Costa Blanca flights and travel guide

The Costa Blanca stretches more than 200km along the Province of Alicante. It extends from Denia in the north to Torrevieja in the south. Tourist magnets Benidorm and Alicante are in this province as well as the towns of Javea, Calpe and Santa Pola.

It's a costa of sandy beaches with excellent weather year-round. The Costa Brava is wetter and colder in wintertime; the Costa del Sol hotter and more humid in the summertime. The winter months have almost as many sunny days as the summer months.

To the north the Costa Blanca is mountainous and green and the quality of the beaches range from pebbley to sandy. In the south, beaches are sandier. Salt lakes and palm trees feature in the landscape.

Costa Blanca Insider Information

• The eastern coastline is less developed as a tourist destination than the Costa del Sol and has warmer winters than the Costa Brava.
• Alicante and the surrounding area is the holiday centre and has long sandy beaches. North of Altea the beaches are split up by rocky coves and cliffs and are less heavily developed. South of Alicante to Torreviaje the landscape is barer and leads down to the dramatic tree-filled sand-dunes of Guardamar del Segura.
