The Costa Dorada translates as Golden Coast. It lies between the Costa Brava (capital: Alicante) and Costa del Azahar. Unlike the more rugged Costa Brava, the Costa Dorada (capital: Tarragona) boasts golden, sandy beaches.
About 3.5 million tourists seeks cheap flights to the Costa Dorada each year, drawn not only by its beaches but by its small towns and farmlands where olive groves, vineyards, hazel and almond trees flourish in the sun.
Towns of interest along the Costa Dorada include Reus, Valls, Montblanc and Tortosa. The Ebro Delta is one of Western Europe's largest wetland areas.
Resorts of note include busy and popular Salou, smaller, fishing-village Cambrils, and family-favourite Pineda with its Aquopolis water park.
