Travellers booking flights to Estepona are almost guaranteed sun - this Andalusian town, nestled between the sea and the Sierra Bermeja mountains, enjoys more than 325 days of sunshine per year. Estepona is renowned for its beaches too. The white-sand beaches stretch for a languid 20km.
It's a quieter spot, ideal for families. The port and marina are "working" - there are daily early-morning (be there at 6am) fish auctions. Turn up later, and the restaurants and bars in the marina area will have it cooked. Even as Estepona lacks the nightlife of other resorts in the province of Malaga, the marina is where you'll find lively pubs and bars. The Plaza de las Flores in the old quarter of Estepona is lined with cafes and the streets around the square are typically Andalusian - narrow and cobbled with white-washed houses and balconies spilling over with colourful flowers.
For a taste of Spain, the bull ring, on the outskirts of the town, has four museums, one with a collection of bullfighting memorabilia.
