The climate is hot all year round, with an average temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. Due to the fact that it is at the top of the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is subject to monsoons and has three seasons. The cool season from November to February offers idyllic weather which isn’t too hot, a perfect time to book a flight to Pattaya. But be aware, this is the peak tourist season so the cost of airfares is generally higher during these months.
Festivals during these cooler months, such as The Loy Krathong Festival in November, also encourage visitors to book flights to Pattaya. The festival is dedicated to paying respect to the water through a variety of events such as numerous floral floats being released into the water, sport events, beauty contests, cultural performances, food stalls, firework displays and a plethora of carnival-like activities all taking place at Jomtien Beach.
The hottest and most humid months are March, April and May. If you take a flight to Pattaya during this time then you’ll be able to cool off with locals and tourists alike who celebrate the Thai New Year with a massive water fight. Be prepared to get wet during the Songkran Festival, as people will be throwing water throughout the city left, right and centre. Don’t be offended if you receive a large bucket of water in your face as everyone splashes water on each other regardless of acquaintances, relatives or strangers.
There is a small amount of rain during the hot months. The rainy season occurs between June and October. While the rain is short-lived, it is very intense and makes this period the low season. The off-peak season is generally the cheapest time to visit. Hotels offer lower rates and visitors are more likely to find cheap flights to Pattaya, compared with the most popular months of November to February. Some travel agents offer seasonal deals for a brief period.

Colourful, ocean-inspired Pattaya offers more than a fascinating beach culture. This vibrant city offers a wealth of landmarks, adventure tours and beautiful scenery to enjoy which will not only inspire you, but also leave you rejuvenated. A true mix of modern and ancient culture, the region offers an array of sights and sounds which will at once challenge and delight you.
The Sanctuary of Truth at Na Kluea offers a unique blend of art, culture and religion in an ancient wooden structure. Standing at 345 ft (105 metres) at its highest point and carved from teak, the structure resembles a temple or a palace and it pays homage to the eastern philosophy, ancient knowledge and our relationship with the universe. Another attraction worth seeing is the Pattaya floating market in Jomtien. It is divided into “four regions”, offering items from each region of Thailand, namely north, north-east, central and south. 114 shops and restaurants and a cultural show each afternoon make this an ideal area to visit while in Pattaya. In North Pattaya you can visit Mini Siam where you can see replicas of sites like the Statue of Liberty and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and in the south you can visit the Ripley’s Museum and sample the wonders of Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Pattaya beach activities are also a popular way to spend your holiday in the region.
Beach activities are easily accessible on foot as most are located within a few miles. Travelling to nearby Jomtien and Naklua are easy using the many car and motorbike rentals available in the area. Motorbike taxis are common as is the blue pick-up truck taxi service or “songthaew”.
The city is served by Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok (BKK).
