Getting around Perugia

It is not advisable to drive in the centre of Perugia. The streets are narrow and cobblestoned and many are closed to cars. The city has a good bus service as well as a driverless minimetro which runs above ground. A series of escalators cuts up through the Rocca Paolina taking you through the heart of the medieval city ruins. Plenty of walking tours covering many themes are on offer in Perugia. These include architecture, gardens and botany, and wine making tours amongst others. You can also take a 4×4 safari into the Umbrian landscape of valleys and vineyards.

Getting from the Airport to the City

There is a small airport close to the city, San Franceso d’Assisi Airport (PEG), which serves flights to Perugia from many European cities and direct buses and trains into the city.
