Paris has a history rich in love, light and romance. Coveted the world over, couples escape to the French capital to seal their love in a fancy wedding, intimate ceremony or a planned elopement. Finding a venue to exchange vows is important, but so is deciding on the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. We’ve done the hard work and narrowed down a selection of Paris’s most iconic locations to create lifelong memories for your wedding album.

1. For the lovers of Paris

If having the Eiffel Tower in your wedding photos is what you dream of, then the Trocadero in the 16th arrondissement is your location. Positioned opposite the Eiffel Tower, standing on this platform will give you a straight-on view of the monumental icon from a distance, perfect for that “we tied the knot in Paris” shot. Tip: The Trocadero gets very crowded with tourists snapping holiday photos, so get there early morning to beat the rush.

2. For the romantics

What could be more romantic than strolling down the tree-lined aisles of Jardin des Tuileries straight after you’ve tied the knot with the love of your life? Understated in its beauty, whispering sweet nothings into your lover’s ear as the photographer shoots will be a cinch in these surroundings.

3. For the elegant bride and groom

An icon in itself, the ornate Pont Alexandre III is considered Paris’s most beautiful bridge. Decorated with lampposts, sculptures and smatterings of gilt bronze, this embellished location is dripping with a feeling of luxe romance and is an ideal backdrop for the elegant couple’s wedding photos.

4. For the elopement

For relaxed, fuss-free photos to match your low-key nuptials, head to Café de Flore. Extremely photogenic and full of character, cosy up to your spouse over a coffee or glass of rosé on the sidewalk terrace whilst your photographer captures a moment in time.

5. For the hipsters

Famed for featuring in the French film Amélie, Canal Saint Martin is a gentrified neighbourhood in Paris where, as its name suggests, a canal runs through it. Hold hands as you balance along the banks of the canal or pose on the recognisable arched bridges.

6. For the culturalists

If you love art and culture almost as much as you love your better half, then outside the Louvre is the ultimate stage for your wedding photos. Cocooned by stunning Parisian architecture, this striking icon looks impressive from any angle.
