This week sees the launch of the latest addition to the Momondo Group family as we take the wrappers off our next-generation New Zealand site – Cheapflights.co.nz – with a colourful interactive launch event in Auckland designed to inspire people to “Chalk it up” with Cheapflights.
To kick things off and encourage intrepid Kiwis to travel, Momondo Group is creating a pavement-shattering piece of 3D art and putting up $1,000 to fund an adventure for one lucky member of the public.
An award-winning chalk street artist – Alex Heydenrijk – will create a 3D picture in the city centre with a body-painted “steward” and “stewardess” (painted by Yolanda Bartram, the world-champion body-painting expert from BodyFx). Passersby will be encouraged to “get in the picture” with them and explore the world via the new site.
The event is taking place at Takutai Square, Britomart, Auckland – and full details about the competition are available here.
Meta search – the next generation:
The new Cheapflights site enables users to compare a much wider range of airlines and travel companies across the market, helping them to find the best options – whether by price, convenience, duration or carrier – to meet their needs.
The site also features handy tips and travel insights, including details on the latest local prices for taxis, buses and local goods at a range of popular destinations – from clothing to coffee, from eggs to water and a range of beers!
Pages are faster, helping users find flights and information more quickly.
Responsive design means the content works across a range of screen sizes – laptops, tablets, smartphones and the next generation of portable devices.
At a glance – where Kiwis are going now:
The latest data from Cheapflights.co.nz reveals that top emerging destinations – the biggest percentage movers in terms of flight searches on the site – were Stockholm (Sweden), Cork (Ireland) and Milan (Italy).
Other city destinations recording large increases in searches were Venice, Italy (4th); Prague, Czech Republic; (5th); Cairo, Egypt (6th); Seattle, USA (7th) and Seoul, South Korea (8th).
Bangalore, India, and Rome, Italy, round out the top ten risers.
