London Heathrow Airport has opened a new lounge for people travelling on Star Alliance airlines.
The lounge will be open to first and business class passengers of member carriers – which include bmi, Lufthansa and US Airways – as well as invited guests and selected Gold Card holders.
It covers a total of 1,650 sq metres and is located near pier three in Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport.
Among the facilities guests will able to take advantage of are food service areas, showers, two separate business centres, WiFi internet access and a specially-designed children’s area.
Star Alliance spokesman Lee Hock Lye said that the shared lounge offered a way for member airlines to cut back on costs without compromising on the quality of customer service.
He commented: “Rather than own separate lounges and incur duplicate construction and operating costs, Star Alliance lounges save the airlines money, and give customers a high-quality experience in a comfortable environment that is much larger and with more amenities than the carriers could provide on their own.”
Star Alliance was founded in 1997 and is currently the world’s largest airline alliance.
