Certain flights arriving and departing Leeds Bradford and Humberside airports have been cancelled following the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
Some of the flights bound for Northern Ireland and Scotland have been cancelled or delayed from Leeds Bradford Airport, while Aberdeen flights to and from Humberside Airport have also been cancelled by Eastern Airways.
Passengers hoping to catch flights have been warned that the disruption could continue, but, as Leeds Bradford Airport’s Tony Hallwood told the BBC: “With last year’s experience and now with various categories of ash identified, we hope that disruption will be significantly less than last year.”
The carriers have chosen to cancel certain flights as a precautionary measure to ensure that the aircraft engines do not suffer any damage as a result of the airborne volcanic particles.
All travellers attempting to catch flights from Leeds Bradford, Humberside Airport and others across the country are advised to confirm their flight with the airline before heading to the airport.
