Leeds Bradford Airport is none too popular with travellers at the moment following the announcement of a new drop-off charge.

The airport has levied the fee – which will be at least £2 – on all those motorists who drop off or pick up passengers at the airport. The fee applies regardless of how long they stay in order to collect or drop off travellers.

From now on, all vehicles driving into the short-stay car park located next to the terminal building will be registered by cameras, and drivers will then have to pay the new fee when they exit the car park through the barriers. Those who go in for long goodbyes will be charged £5 for stays of more than 30 minutes, and £10 for stays of more than an hour.

Slightly oddly, drivers can still use the long-stay car park, which allows them to remain for an hour without paying anything.

All Aboard Travel’s Michael Norton, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Hardly anywhere else does this.

“To charge £2 for the two minutes it takes to chuck people out is ridiculous.”
