Turkey-specialist Holidays 4U has collapsed, putting the holidays of as many as 60,000 travellers at risk.
The Brighton-based company fell into administration yesterday, 3 August. Currently, up to 13,000 customers are abroad on their holidays, whilst another 20,000 future bookings will disrupt the holidays of an additional 50,000 people. All of the planned holidays have been cancelled.
Customers who booked package holidays and flight-only holidays should be covered under Holidays 4U’s
Atol licence, so they should be in line for a refund through the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Those who have booked through a travel agent are advised to contact the agent for advice immediately.
Those travellers who opted to book their own accommodation may lose out unless they can locate another flight.
All customers who are currently abroad should be able to finish their trips as planned, according to the CAA, although it did warn that some could face payment requests from hoteliers. David Clover, the CAA’s Atol spokesman, told Travel Weekly, “Any Holidays 4U client abroad who is asked to pay again for accommodation should make a claim through the CAA on their return.”
Those travellers wanting to return home from their holidays are advised to travel to the airport and check in for their flights as planned. The CAA will get everyone home, but it may not be to their chosen airport, warned ABTA.
