Getting away from it all doesn’t always have to mean heading abroad, and there are plenty of locations where holidaymakers can recharge their batteries right here on our very own British shores.
To secure your staycation next year for less, Blue Chip Holidays is launching its 2013 self-catering sale from Boxing Day, with 10 per cent off seven-night breaks booked between December 26 and January 13.
Any week in any month can be booked in the sale, helping travellers save over £375 on stays at luxury and 5-star self catering holiday homes across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.

Riverside Barn, Devon
Save up to £143 on a stay at the Riverside Barn (pictured above) in North Devon, a beautifully finished 5-star barn conversion for six which is situated within 20 acres of beautiful grounds on Park Mill Farm, near Chulmleigh.

This charming 4-star holiday home for four is ideal for families and is located in the South Cornwall coastal village of Charlestown, just a short drive from The Eden Project.
Boasting a number of family-friendly features including a cot and high chair, stair gate, baby bouncer, changing mat and blackout blinds (as well as a selection of DVDs, CDs, books), the cottage can be booked from £353 in the Blue Chip Holidays sale.
Peak weeks can be purchased in the sale from £956, leading to a saving of over £102.
The Penthouse Bay View, Devon
Located in the seaside village of Westward Ho! on the North coast of Devon, The Penthouse Bay View has spectacular sea views over Golden Bay.
A week at The Penthouse Bay View can be booked from £632, with savings of up to £167 on a week booked in August.
Weekly breaks in the 5-star apartment for six from late July and throughout August can be booked from £1,541 in the sale.
