The world’s longest and fastest zip slide is found at the Sun City resort in South Africa. The Zip 2000 ride skims 2km (1.24 miles) down a rugged African hillside and valley. The descent is the equivalent of a 280-metre (900-plus foot) vertical drop – all that gravity sees riders reach speeds of up to 150km (93 miles) per hour.

The Northern Hemisphere’s largest zip slide experience is due to open in March 2013. Though brand new, the Zip World ride in Bethesda near Bangor in North Wales trails in the wake of its South African counterpart.
Located at the world’s largest old slate quarry, Zip World line is 1,750 metres (just over a mile) long, drops 213 metres (700 feet) and allows riders to reach 120 kph (75 mph).
