Airport Overview
Terminal Transfer | Getting into Town | Car Parking | Information Desks | Airport Facilities
The history of Varna International Airport goes back to 1916, when it was just two sheds set up for mail flights to what was already a Bulgarian maritime hub. Although Varna is still considered a small airport by today’s standards, it has grown tremendously into five terminals that together handle more than 1.2 million passengers per year.
Few routes include stopovers in Varna, so flights to Varna International Airport are how most people access the Bulgarian beach resorts of the Black Sea coast, including Golden Sands and Sunny Beach.
Airport services are efficient and the staff is friendly, so you can be confident that your Bulgarian holiday will start and end smoothly.
From 15 October 2011 until 28 February 2012, Varna airport will be closed for a reconstruction of the runaway
Terminal Transfer
The terminals are close enough together to walk between, except for Terminal 5, and there are regular free shuttles between it and the other terminals.
Getting into Town
Train: There is no train or subway service to Varna Airport.
Bus: Bus No. 409 goes from the airport to the city centre by way of the Mall of Varna and Golden Sands resort. Car Parking
The main car park is adjacent to the terminal building. It’s open 24 hours a day, and you can park for up to ten minutes free. After that the price is BGN 2 (about £0.90) per hour up to seven hours, BGN 15 (£6.50) for up to 12 hours, and BGN 18 (£8) from 12 to 24 hours. After that fees average BGN 5 (£2) per day.
