Strapped for cash and looking for fun in central Warsaw this August? Well, you’re in luck – you’ll find a host of free concerts and artsy activities at the annual pop-up culture fest that is ArtPark. It’s on every day in August in Marshal Edward Smigly-Rydz Park – otherwise known simply as that nice bit of green just east of the Sejm (Poland’s parliament building).

During the day, free classes on dance, tai chi, painting, basket-weaving, as well as exhibitions and all sorts of other artistic activities are available to all-comers. As dusk approaches, musical performances are staged, with jazz combos, choirs, singer-songwriters, and, erm, “retro-circus-folk” bands. To top it all off, there’s even a Brazilian mini-carnival this year. The weekends see in plenty of family activities, with the puppet theatre being a must, while there are market stalls from various local companies and charities offering food and fun.

So what are you waiting for? If you’re in Warsaw this August, make sure you get yourself down to ArtPark. It’s on every day until August 31.

You can find out more about ArtPark 2014 on their Facebook page or on their official page at Dom Kultury Srodmiescie.
