The Competition Commission could reverse its decision to force BAA to sell Edinburgh Airport.
That is according to The Independent on Sunday, which claimed that the operator of seven UK airports may be given the option of choosing between Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport by the monopoly watchdog.
Previously, the independent regulator had suggested to BAA that it should sell the Scottish airport, as part of an initiative to release its stranglehold on the UK’s aviation centres.
The weekly newspaper quoted a source close to BAA who said: “The group is quietly optimistic that it will be given a choice over whether to drop Glasgow or Edinburgh.”
