Let’s be honest, snow and bottom-bitingly cold weather suck. Unless you are off work that is.

With the weather set to drop to -10C in many places over the weekend we look at some places everyone should escape to in order to get away from it all, but at the same time enjoying the sun.

So with that in mind, why not make the most of this most beautiful of weather conditions and go somewhere where you can really enjoy it? Here are some of the best places in Europe to enjoy the snow this weekend.

Paris, France

The European city of love looks stunning all year round, but there is no better time to visit than when there’s a sheet of snow covering the streets.

Paris is currently enjoying light dustings of snow interspersed with sunny periods, giving the city a gleaming, picturesque look.

St Anton, Austria

This traditional Austrian ski resort had a slow start to the ski season in December last year, with very little snowfall.
But all that has changed and snow has been falling almost non-stop in St Anton ever since. Temperatures are well below freezing at the moment, so make sure you bring your thickest of thermals.

Lake District, England

For those of you wanting stay a little closer to home while still enjoying fantastic snowy scenes, the Lake District is ideal.
Heavy snowfall is forecast for the weekend, and the snow-topped mountains will make you feel like you are walking through the Alps. Perfect for a weekend of winter walking.

And for those who hate the cold weather…

For some, cold weather is never good. And when the cold weather kicks in there is really only one place to go for certain sunshine: Australia.

Perth in Western Australia has just experienced a major heatwave with temperatures reach 40C and a delightful 21C to 24C at night. Just look at these folks enjoying the beach – beats de-icing the car hey!
