Bmi, KLM and Flyglobespan have all been rewarded in the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association (SPAA) Annual Travel Awards.
The SPAA is the world’s oldest travel trade association and has a wealth of experience working with the airline industry.
At the awards, the “Best Airline – UK Domestic” prize went to bmi, the “Best Holiday Airline – Scheduled/Charter” gong went to Flyglobespan, and the “Best Airline – European Flights” prize was awarded to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Other winners included Air France/KLM, which took home the “BAA Scotland Award for 2007”, and Emirates, which was voted “Best Airline – Worldwide”.
Virgin Atlantic was presented with a new accolade – “Best Airline – Green Policy”. Over the past 12 months, Sir Richard Branson’s airline has developed a number of eco-friendly initiatives including the use of “starting grids” for aircraft that could reduce carbon emissions.
The SPAA also rewarded the individuals who had tackled the would-be suicide bombers at Glasgow Airport. Airport employees Harry Lambie and John Smeaton, and passenger Michael Kerr, were given a special award.
