Boeing may postpone the delivery of its eagerly anticipated 787 Dreamliner following delays in production.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the world’s leading commercial jetliner manufacturer could be delaying the inaugural deliveries of its Dreamliner until the middle of 2010, as a consequence of recent strikes by machinists.
The 787 Dreamliner, which will be able to carry between 210 and 330 passengers, will be the company’s most fuel efficient aircraft to date and will include a variety of features designed to improve travellers’ comfort.
Yvonne Leach, a spokeswoman for Boeing in Seattle, disclosed that the company is presently “conducting an assessment of the 787 programme schedule”. She said: “We will communicate it when it is complete.
We do not have the exact timing yet on when that communication will occur.” The mid-sized twin engine aircraft became the fast selling wide bodied aircraft in history with 600 orders before its opening ceremony in 2007.
