British Airways  – and chef Mark Tazzioli – have been working on a special burger recipe for the past 10 months. The, get it, “Flying Burger” will be available on flights next month.

The burger is made from three different cuts of British beef (chuck, cheek and onglet) to ensure full flavour, even at 35,000ft, where your ability to taste reduces by 30 per cent.

The beef is all British, but the other ingredients cater to all nationalities. Monterey Jack cheese is favoured by American travellers, gherkins are most popular with customers from Poland and Germany. Tomato relish is popular with British, American and Canadian palates and the brioche bun is especially popular with French and Italian flyers.

It’s served with a side of triple-cooked chips and choice of relishes but we can’t guarantee that the ketchup will be in the BA riband shape on the day.

How to get your hands on a Flying Burger?

You’ll need to upgrade yourself to First Class. It’ll be served to First customers in the bistro menu on long-haul flights from June. And a Grounded Burger will be served in its First and Concorde lounges.
