The combination of the strong pound and price falls in resort areas are helping hard-pressed families to enjoy a cheaper holiday this summer.
As schools close for their long summer break, the annual Post Office Travel Money Family Holiday Report reveals that Sunny Beach, Bulgaria and Costa del Sol are again cheapest for families.
Cheaper meals are key to having a bargain break, the report finds. Family meals are cheapest in the Costa del Sol and in Sunny Beach – less than £33 for three-courses plus a bottle of wine and kids’ drinks.
Majorca has seen significant price rises this year, while meal prices have almost halved in Porec, Croatia. In Marmaris, Turkey, prices are similar to a year ago. Crete is super value this year. As we see in successive Post Office holiday reports the most expensive places to holiday in Europe are Nice, France, and Sorrento, Italy.
