There’s more to eat in Brighton than fish and chips; the city’s Lanes are fit to bursting with charming bistros and family-run restaurants. We’ve found five of the best…
Riddle & Finns
An atmospheric champagne and oyster bar, Riddle & Finns serves up top-notch seafood dishes on marble-topped tables, all lit by the soft glow of candelabras. Rumour has it that Gordon Ramsay is a loyal customer.
Food For Friends
A gourmet vegetarian restaurant, Food For Friends turns out dishes that look like edible works of art. Catering to those with special dietary requirements, the restaurant’s dishes are flavoursome and satisfying. Sample plates like warm halloumi salad, or come early for afternoon tea.
Havana Restaurant
Set in the historic Duke Street Theatre building and serving an international menu full of mouth-watering flavours, Havana Restaurant is a bona fide Brighton destination. Don’t miss dishes like crab and tarragon linguine and line-caught sea bass with samphire.
The House Restaurant
The House is a family-run bistro, set in a beautiful Victorian house in the South Lanes. Specialising in hearty, rustic fare (steaks especially), the unpretentious spot is a favourite among Brighton’s foodies.
Moshimo
Previously known as Moshi Moshi, the restaurant has undergone a renovation and emerged as Moshimo, one of Brighton’s best Japanese restaurants. Though it specialises in exotic flavours, Moshimo stays true to its Brighton location by offering the “Cornish Catch of the Day”.
