In 1842, at the height of his fame, Charles Dickens visited the US and Canada, travelling on the steamship Britannia from Liverpool, a journey that took about three weeks.

Getting to the States is a bit faster now thankfully and if we were going to follow in Dickens’s* footsteps these would be the do-not-miss cities on our itinerary.
