The Museum of London Docklands has released these 16 hybrid photographs showing “then and now” views of London and its most historic bridges.
The ghostly images juxtapose historic views with their present-day perspective. They’ve been created using photographs showcased in Museum of London Docklands’ new art exhibition Bridge, which opens tomorrow (Friday, June 27).
The original photographs were taken by renowned late 19th and 20th-century photographers, such as Henry Grant, Henry Turner, Sandra Flett, Christina Broom, Roger Mayne and George Davison Reid and are drawn from the museum’s extensive photography collection.
The exhibition runs until Sunday November 2 2014. The museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm and entrance is free.
The Museum of London Docklands is a branch of the main Museum of London, located at West India Quay in east London. Opened in 2003, this grade one listed converted Georgian sugar warehouse specifically tells the story of the port, river and city – focusing on trade, migration and commerce in London.
