Celebrating 50 years since the birth of the Beatles, Liverpool is hosting a series of Beatle-themed events throughout the year.
The Liverpudlian schedule of Beatlemania includes the 20th Mathew Street Festival, special performances from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the debut of a play about the Beatles manager, Brian Epstein.
But Liverpool is not the only location where the Beatles left their mark, here are a few top spots from around the world.
Hamburg
Hamburg played an important role in The Beatles story as the band played several gigs in the German city between 1960 and 1962. One of the most famous gigs they ever played was at Kaiserkeller.
India
With a little help from their spiritual teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the band entered a new era of psychedelic music. They wrote most of the White Album in the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh as well as two tracks for Abbey Road.
United States
The Beatles broke America with such speed that they started a revolution of their own, changing Americans’ view of popular music forever. The Beatles rise to power was cemented with a year of successful concerts and tours, the first being their show at Washington Coliseum in 1964.
When touching down at New York’s John F Kennedy Airport for their first US visit, the band was greeted by more than 4,000 fans.
