In a bid to encourage more visitors to Northern Ireland, tourism minister Arlene Foster has launched a new breed of tourism apps.

The four apps will provide detailed information to visitors, including all the latest news on local attractions, accommodation, eateries and must-sees in the area.

One of the apps, entitled Pocket Northern Ireland, comprises a tourist map, audio commentary and information on some of the best attractions, while the Take A Hike app will allow visitors to check out some of the best walking trails in Northern Ireland.

The My Tour Talk app will provide driving and walking tours, while the View Ranger app will allow outdoorsy types to download mapping information and useful guides.

Ms Foster said, “These new apps will inform our visitors while they are here and will help them make the most of the many events, attractions and activities we have on offer throughout Northern Ireland.”

The apps can be downloaded free of charge via the Android Market and iPhone App Store now.
