With spring in full swing (allegedly) and another long, wet winter bidding farewell, we’re all looking forward to those holidays we’ve been dreaming of for the last few months. Only one last headache remains – choosing it! Luckily, scientists have advice at hand.

According to a study conducted by researchers at the European Centre for Environment and Human Health, all-natural environments give a much greater sense of enjoyment, calm and refreshment than urban locations.

So, if you’re outlook is as gloomy as a winter’s day in early January, a city break might not be the trick. You’re in desperate need of a trip to the beach…or the forest…or maybe a field, river, or mountain.

According to the research, it doesn’t matter how old you are or how far you have to travel, exploring nature’s landscapes will always be better for your emotional wellbeing than navigating the ones we humans have developed.

Go on. Treat yourself to that beach holiday. Your mind and body have earned it!
