Prince Harry may be feeling the wrath of Clarence House at the moment, but for the rest of us his state side antics have given us a royal good laugh.

But it seems that holiday companies are really enjoying the prince’s less than regal capers in Las Vegas, as they have been responsible for boosting interest in trips to the city.

Virgin Holidays has reported a 30 per cent increase in enquiries for package holidays to Las Vegas, with the tour operator attributing the rise to the “Prince Harry effect” (read this piece: Virgin’s cheeky care package for Prince Harry & a 10% discount on Las Vegas hols)

The Prince, who was in Las Vegas with friends over the weekend, made headlines after he was captured taking part in a risqué game of “strip billiards” at the MGM Grand.

He also proved that the royal clan can party just like the rest of us by attending a number of pool parties and nightclubs.

Virgin has said that it has already done its part to ease Harry’s potential hangover, and sent a “care package” to the Wynn hotel where he was staying.

This included sunglasses and comedy disguise, to ensure that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – not to mention hiding those bleary eyes, swimming trunks (he seems to have misplaced his), and an apparently much-needed lesson in how to play billiards.

The 2009 comedy film The Hangover has helped Las Vegas to enjoy somewhat of a resurgence over the past few years.

Recent research by British Airways revealed that America is high on the holiday wish-list for Team GB. Almost a third are planning a trip stateside, with Las Vegas among the top cities.

A new Terminal 3 building at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, the seventh-busiest airport in the US, has recently opened to provide even more facilities for the 40 million passengers who fly through it on an annual basis.

Virgin is offering a 10 per cent discount on packages to Vegas with bookings made through its website on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (the details are here).
