The competition is open to UK, US, CA, ZA, NZ and AU entrants aged 18 years and over. Entries close Monday 31st October, 2016 at 11:55pm GMT.
- Competition Terms and Conditions
1.1. No purchase necessary. Entry to the competition is conditional on acceptance of these terms and conditions. By entering you are deemed to have read and accepted these terms.
1.2. In order to participate, the entrant must enter the promoter’s ‘Spin The Globe’ competition via the Cheapflights website. The entrant will land on one of five digital scenes picked at random. This will be one of Rio, New York, Rome, Thailand or Victoria Falls. To successfully enter the competition, the entrant must find as many hidden travel medals as possible within the scene in which they land, and within the designated time limit of 30 seconds. If the entrant wins the competition (via a prize draw) they win flights to this location. Once the time is up, the entrant will be asked to submit their full name, a valid email address and accept the Terms & Conditions. The entrant then has the option to spin again and could land in one of the remaining locations. At the end of each location, they will be given the option to enter the competition again to win flights to this particular location.
1.3. It is not compulsory for the entrant to “Like” the Cheapflights Facebook page or “Follow” the Cheapflights Twitter page to enter the competition. Sharing the competition on Facebook or Twitter is an optional function of the competition. By sharing, the entrant automatically becomes eligible for the competition bonus prize of £1000 towards accommodation.
1.4. After the competition closing date, Cheapflights selects one winner from all eligible entries via a prize draw. Cheapflights will choose the competition winner using a random number generator.
1.5. The start date for entries is Friday 5th August, 2016 at 9 a.m. BST.
1.6. The closing date for entries is Monday 31st October, 2016 at 11:55pm GMT. Entries received after this date and time will not be accepted.
1.7. There is a limit of 5 entries per person, although there is no limit on the amount of times an entrant can play the game. If an entrant enters the competition more than five times, only their first five entries will be considered for the main and bonus competition prizes.
1.8. Only an entrant permanently residing in one of the following countries is eligible for the prize: United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA and Canada. The entrant does not need to be a citizen of one of the participating countries. Aged 18 years and over. Employees of the promoter and members of their immediate families (including any live-in partner), its agencies, or anyone professionally associated with the promotion are excluded from entering the promotion. The promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants.
1.9. The promoter of this competition is Cheapflights, Control Tower, One Alfred Place, London, WC1E 7EB, United Kingdom.
2. Prizes:
2.1. The main competition prize is two return flights to either Rio, New York, Rome, Thailand and Victoria Falls (up to a combined value of £1,500 GBP).
2.2. If the entrant shares the competition on social media, they will become eligible for the bonus competition prize of £1000 towards accommodation if they win.
2.3. There are also 10 runners up prizes to be won (in flight travel kits) for the top 10 highest scoring entrants.*
*Please note that if you are one of the top 10 scorers, we’ll use your name on the medals leaderboard. If for some reason you decide you no longer want your name to appear on the leaderboard please contact us via email here – https://www.cheapflights.co.uk/contact. By removing yourself from the leaderboard you withdraw yourself from the prize draw and bonus travel kit prizes available to the top 10 scorers on the leaderboard.
The maximum amount of runners up prizes available is 15. If there are entrants with the same score on the leaderboard (as 15th place), prizes will be issued with a random prize draw.
3. Prize draws:
3.1. The final prize draw will take place on Tuesday 1st November, 2016 at 3 p.m. GMT. The winners will be notified via email within one day of the draw. The prize winners are required to accept his/her prizes by email within ten days of notification. In the event of non-acceptance, a supplementary winner may be drawn at the promoter’s discretion.
3.2. The main competition prize is two return flights to either Rio, New York, Rome, Thailand and Victoria Falls (up to a combined value of £1,500 GBP) for the winning entrant and a guest, departing from the airport the winner deems is most convenient to their place of residence.
3.3. If the entrant shares the competition on a social media platform they will be automatically entered for the bonus competition prize of £1000 towards accommodation if they win. There are also 10 runners up prize for the highest scoring entrants (in flight travel kits).
3.4. Both the main and bonus prize are non-transferable and must be used in conjunction with each other. There is no cash alternative to the prizes.
3.5. The prize winner must provide the promoter with their preferred airport of departure, date of departure, travel partner and accommodation no more than two weeks after accepting the prize. The prize winner must complete their booking of flights and accommodation no more than 4 weeks after accepting their prize. The preferred trip itinerary must be based on fares and search criteria available on the prize winner’s local Cheapflights website, and not exceed the total prize fund allocated.
3.6. The competition prize winner and their guest are responsible for paying all additional costs associated with the prize that are not specifically included (as stated in these Terms & Conditions), including, where applicable, transport to and from the respective airports, additional accommodation fees (beyond the £1000 bonus prize), meal costs, spending money, insurance and all other incidentals.
3.7. The promoter holds no responsibility or liability for the winner and their guest. Insurance is not included in the prize. The promoter strongly advises the winner and their guest to take out comprehensive travel insurance for their trip to New York. The promoter will not be held responsible for any hotel or flight cancellations and, therefore, advises the winner to ensure cancellation is included in their travel insurance. The promoter reserves the right to amend the specification of the prize, or offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value, at any time before the competition closes.
3.8. The competition winner is solely responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, including valid passports and visas.
3.9. The prize winners may be required to participate in publicity accompanying or resulting from this promotion. The winners’ names and photos will be made available upon request and winners may be displayed on the Cheapflights Social Media feeds and websites.
4. Other
4.1. The right is reserved to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time.
4.2. The promoter assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the website during the competition period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment software, failure of any email or entry to be received by the promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating and entering in the promotion. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the promoter reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically MV reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, plagiarized, altered or tampered with in any way.
4.3.For the name of the prize winners, please send a stamped addressed envelope marked Spin the Globe, Cheapflights Group, Control Tower, One Alfred Place, London, WC1E 7EB. No entries should be sent to this address.
4.4. The promoter shall be entitled to terminate or modify the promotion or to modify these rules at any time prior to the closing date by publishing any such modification or termination on any website operated by the promoter.
4.5. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the promoter shall be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
4.6. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the promoter and accordingly the promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof.
4.7. The promoter has organized this competition in good faith and does not accept liability relating to the prize.
5. Email Privacy Policy:
5.1. The promoter will not pass any email addresses on to third parties.
5.2. By entering this competition you accept signing up to the Cheapflights newsletter which contains travel inspiration and tips for booking cheap flights, hotels and car hire. You are free to unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time via the link provided in each email.
