In the midst of planning your hen or stag do? While Blackpool and Brighton are the obvious choices, those brides and grooms looking for something a little bit different from the crazy parties and utter debauchery have a world of opportunities at hand. From cultural stops in Scotland to indulgent spa getaways, these six spots in the UK are perfect for a fun and creative celebration.

Ford, Argyll, Scotland

Prefer a relaxing night in rather than a manic evening out? Consider booking a small group to spend a weekend away at the remote Ecoyoga in the Scottish Highlands. Here, pampering is what’s on the menu. From lazy outdoor soaks to rejuvenating yoga classes and river bathing, this do is relaxed but certainly not dull. Beginning at just £57 per person per night, it’s also pleasantly affordable.

Falmouth, Cornwall

With beautiful beaches, stunning nature, and lots of activities in store, Cornwall is the perfect place for a celebration. Hens after a bit of luxury should book the Girls Night In package at the seaside St Michael’s Hotel, which includes facials, manicures, full use of spa facilities, cocktails, and a three-course dinner – all for £99 per person per night. Make sure you save time to explore the sandy Gyllyngvase Beach as well.

Newquay, Cornwall

While hens are the ones catered to at St Michael’s Hotel, celebratory stags and hens alike can also plan for an active, Cornish day out in Newquay. Considered the UK’s surfing capital, this coastal town is made for daredevils and those who just can’t keep still. You can also try out coasteering – a newer sport that combines rock climbing, cliff jumping, and swimming – during the day before letting loose at night. The city attracts some top DJs, including those coming off the Ibiza circuit.

Secret Garden Party, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Love music and don’t mind roughing it a bit? You can bring a similarly like-minded group of friends with you to one of the UK’s best summer festivals. Secret Garden Party, held from 24th-27th July this year, is the perfect mix of live acts, relaxed camping, and general merriment. Everything from casual tents to luxury yurts are available, and when booked with large groups are particularly cost-effective.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Lean towards the culture vulture side of the spectrum? Head up north to Edinburgh for a weekend hen or stag do that takes full advantage of the city’s historic goings-on. Pick from one of the Edinburgh’s many design hotels and spend the day exploring its cobbled streets. Foodies can plan their party for one of Edinburgh’s many top-end restaurants, while its laudable cocktail bars are the perfect place to finish the evening – Bramble is one of our favourites.
