With Easter fast approaching, many of us will be thinking about making the most of those days off with a trip abroad. After all, if school children get a fortnight off then why shouldn’t we?

According to research by TripAdvisor, now is the best time to go. The travel website has been looking at hotel prices across Europe, and has found some very reassuring results.

It seems that holiday hotspots across the continent are desperate for business, as it was found that hotel prices in some places have been slashed by as much as 50 per cent.

As Euro-zone countries continue to struggle, some of our favourite travel destinations have been dropping their prices for more than a year. So, where should you go to take advantage of the bargain hotel rooms?

Albufeira, Portugal

This popular tourist city on the Algarve has everything you could need for the perfect summer holiday. TripAdvisor’s research has shown that hotel prices have dropped to an average of £47 per night, down from £82 last year.

Arles, France

Located on the Rhône, Arles boasts great views and even some Roman architecture. Hotel prices have also taken a tumble here, dropping by more than a third from £83 per night to £55 in less than a year.

Barcelona, Spain

There have even been price drops in some of Europe’s major cities, such as Barcelona. Holidaymakers can now expect to pay around £20 less than this time last year.
