British Airways has announced details of its winter 2012 schedule (starting on October 28), attributing part of its expansion to parent company IAG’s purchase of bmi.
From September 24 customers will be able to enjoy a three-times-a-day service between London City and Aberdeen, with a 32 per cent increase in the number of flights to Scotland compared to winter 2011. From December 9 there will be four flights per day between Heathrow and Leeds Bradford.
Two extra flights a day will be offered between London Heathrow and Edinburgh and two extra flights per day between Heathrow and Aberdeen. BA has already launched a London City to Isle of Man service.
From October 28 there will be seven flights a day between London and Belfast after the airline took over bmi’s six daily routes to the Northern Irish capital.
Further afield, passengers will benefit from new routes from London Heathrow to Seoul and Zagreb from December 9, London Gatwick to Las Vegas from October 29, and London Gatwick to Barcelona from February 23 2013. Flights to Bologna and Marseille will also make the move from Gatwick to Heathrow Airport.
Several routes will also be increasing in frequency from Gatwick, including Faro, Malaga and Marrakech, from October 28. There will also be extra services to Salzburg and Turin during the winter ski season.
Flights will also increase from Heathrow on routes to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Manchester, Oslo, Zurich and Phoenix.
“Bmi’s integration into British Airways is really enabling us to grow our network as we promised, giving customers more flights to destinations we know they want to fly to,” said Keith Williams, British Airways’ CEO.
“We’re focusing on new routes such as Seoul, Leeds Bradford and Zagreb, more flights to popular destinations and creating more connections for the UK regions to our global network of flying.”
