The struggle for power is something that many couples are all too familiar with, whether it’s disputes over what to have for dinner or the battle for the remote control.
These power struggles can often go either way, but when it comes to choosing a holiday destination it seems there is only ever one outcome.
Research has found that women most definitely wear the trousers when it comes to picking somewhere for that romantic break.
Holiday company ebookers.com has found that just 2 per cent of women would allow their husband or boyfriend to choose where they go on holiday.
This may seem a little unfair, but when you see the list of things men look for in a good holiday, you might change your mind.
The research found that 6 per cent of Brits think some eye-candy for the beach makes for a happy holiday, 86 per cent of whom are men.
And of the 3 per cent of people who think a sexy air hostess is an important ingredient for a holiday, a whopping 92 per cent were men.
Despite the risk of men’s wandering eyes, it was found that 40 per cent of holidaymakers count a beach break as their favourite type of getaway.
It’s no surprise then that ebookers has seen a surge in beach holidays interest recently, with searches for beach breaks more than doubling compared to the same time last month.
“The research confirms what we’re seeing; since early January we’ve seen beach holiday searches up by 150 per cent from this time last month,” said Jessica Craker, UK Marketing Manager at ebookers.
“It’s always interesting to see the different attitudes of men and women when it comes to finding that perfect holiday, but whatever your happy holiday formula may be, the easiest way to find it is by searching online,” she added.
