Adana experiences a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
The city is a short drive away from the Mediterranean coast, which means that it is accessible for sunbathers but doesn’t become packed during high season, which lasts between June and September. For visitors heading to the beach the high temperatures can be perfect but those wishing to explore the city may find the average high temperature of 35°C to be too hot.
The winter season, although mild, welcomes an increased amount of rainfall, which can also discourage some travellers, however, lower accommodation prices and deals on cheap flights to Adana should be easier to find during this period.
Weather-wise, spring and autumn are the best time to book flights to Adana. The climate is slightly cooler, with high temperatures not quite reaching 30°C, and the winter rains haven’t quite set in. Do keep in mind that there can still be some rainfall during these seasons.

There could be some more English shows for entertainment. My friend had done an online check-in and booked seats together. They were also given a boarding pass with seats together but when they boarded the airlines changed the seat of one person without giving any reason. The couple had to seat separately. This is not good.

The beautiful ancient city of Adana is packed with historical interest, and also lies near some stunningly beautiful scenery, making it a superb place to unwind in the sunshine.
With rich agricultural lands all around the city, Adana has been home to many different cultures and everyone from the Romans to the modern day Turks have left their mark. See the ancient Roman bridge, head to the ethnographic museum to get a handle on the history, and take walking tours of sites like the 16th century Great Mosque or the splendid Ottoman clock tower.
There are also some charming and historic towns and villages a short journey from the city. Visit the gorgeous ancient fishing town of Yumurtalik and fill up with fresh seafood after touring the seafront castle, see the breathtaking mosaics at Iskenderun or climb to the commanding citadel at Yilanlikale.
A flight to Adana also allows visitors easy access to some beautiful natural sites in and around the city. Adana itself lies next to a peaceful lake, and there will be waterfront bars and restaurants open throughout the night. Then there are some of Turkey’s most dramatic waterfalls at Kapuzbasi and safe swimming can be enjoyed at the Akyatan lagoon.
Another unique attraction of this destination is the chance to immerse yourself in Turkish culture. Aside from the delicious food, visitors can experience the relaxation of a Turkish spa and sauna, of which Adana has plenty.
There are other ways to learn about Turkish culture as well. Visit the house of the nation’s founder, Kemal Ataturk, climb the clock tower to gain unrivalled views of the city and don’t forget to dine on the region’s famous kebabs, before washing it down with a shot of potent raki.
Walking is the best way to get a feel for the city, and the central district is not too large for most people to manage. There is also a good local bus network, and “dolmus” (mini buses) will also travel certain routes on a loose schedule. There is even an 8-stop metro line, which may come in handy for accessing some hotels.
The easiest way to get to the centre of Adana after a flight to Adana Airport (ADA) is by taxi. Pre-book before flying with one of the companies offering an online service to minimize stress. Alternatively, many hotels offer mini-bus services, and don’t forget to check whether this is an option. For those keen to visit more remote ruins and the coast, you can easily rent a car at the airport but, again, booking ahead is recommended.
