Getting around Cleveland

The city centre is fairly small, so you won’t have any trouble getting around by foot or by bus. You may want a car if you’re going to visit the suburbs or outskirts of the city, but you won’t need one in the centre of the city.

• The Slavic Village Harvest Festival is held every August and is one of Cleveland’s favourite street fairs. The festival is held in the heart of the city’s historic ‘Warszawa’ neighbourhood, which is home to one of the largest Polish-American communities in the country. The festival brings together the history, traditions, music and food of the Polish community. Visitors are invited to taste the food and attempt the polka.

Ohio’s largest airport – and the gateway to the Midwest for international visitors – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) sees about nine million passengers annually. The airport is a major hub for low-cost carrier ExpressJet Airlines, offering connections to many North American destinations.

Flights to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are mainly intracontinental, with Chicago and Houston being the most popular destinations although there are also regular flights to Canada (Toronto) and Mexico (Cancun).

The airport is currently in the process of upgrading its facilities, amenities, and overall “passenger experience”, though what it can currently boast about is one of the easiest out-of-airport transport systems in the world.
